Must Have Vegan Food List

When Eric and I decided to give up meat and dairy, we didn’t consider ourselves Vegans at first. We never really ate a lot of meat and made the change because we were living with a really good friend for a month that had recently decided to go Vegan. We thought let’s try it and came up with a Must Have Vegan Food List of different foods we need to have on hand at all times.

Must Have Vegan Food List

We do consider ourselves Vegans now or as my daughter says Health-A-Tarians. She says don’t put a label on what we are but be healthy and enjoy what we eat and we haven’t looked back.

So that’s what we do, we enjoy a healthier lifestyle as Vegans and we have a passion for being in the kitchen together. Going to the grocery store, Whole Foods or a Farmer’s Market is fun for us to see what produce looks good and what we are going to make for the week.

Our Must Have Vegan Food List

There are just those certain items that have to stay on a Vegan Food List to keep on hand at all times. As Vegans we of course eat a lot of vegetables so we do go to the grocery store or Farmer’s Market a few times a week but we like keep a running Vegan grocery list that we can both add to so we always have on hand exactly what we need.

I think for us the #1 must have is potatoes both white and sweet potatoes as we eat them everyday. It’s funny before going Vegan I couldn’t eat potatoes everyday or even twice in one day because to much starch would bother my stomach but now I crave them and could eat potatoes with every meal.

  • Potatoes/ White & Sweet Potatoes
  • Onions, Garlic, Tomatoes & Peppers
  • Cilantro & Dill
  • Kale Or Spinach
  • Eggplant, Zucchini & Squash
  • Purple Cabbage, Cauliflower & Broccoli
  • Mushrooms, Cucumbers & Carrots
  • Avocados
  • Lettuce ( we like red/green leaf mixed with Kale)
  • Bananas, Apples, Lemons & Limes

By keeping the above produce on our Vegan Grocery List, we are able to make a bunch of different recipes including vegan breakfast tacos, raw or grilled veggie sandwiches, homemade french fries, pico de gallo and of course a huge salad. Plus so much more.

Vegan Pantry List

While having a stocked fridge of Veggies is very important, there are a few must haves that we have on hand at all times.  Our #1 must have on our Vegan Pantry List is Dried Beans, Garbanzo, Black, Pinto and Kidney Beans. They are great in soups, chili, veggie burgers, chickpea salad sandwich’s  and so much more.

  • Dried Beans ( Garbanzo, Black, Lentils, Pinto & Kidney)
  • Olives ( green, black & Kalamata)
  • Jalapenos & Banana Peppers ( in a jar)
  • Pickles
  • Dried Cranberries
  • Organic Diced Tomatoes, Sauce & Paste
  • Nuts
  • Natural Peanut Butter
  • Quiona
  • Black Rice
  • Panko
  • Steel Cut Oats
  • Vegan Mayo
  • Olive Oil & Coconut Oil

This is just a short list of our everyday Vegan Foods that we like to have on hand. Now that it has been over a year our list has grown tremendously. We love to experiment with new vegetables and are always looking for new ways to use our Veggies, whether raw or cooked.
